Value Plastics Acquires Specialty Check Valve Product Line from Wolfe Tory Medical

As of December 10, 2007, Value Plastics announces the acquisition of the Double Check Valve (DCV) product line from Wolfe Tory Medical in Salt Lake City, Utah. The DCV product line is a uniquely designed check valve which facilitates, through use of the valve and a syringe, clean transfer of fluid from a supply to the use site.

Bruce Williams, CEO of Value Plastics, said, "We took the opportunity to acquire this product line because it fits our strategy of bringing additional high-value products to the healthcare OEM. The products' technology and materials fit very well with Value Plastics' demonstrated capabilities, and the existing customer set fits our profile and sales channels."

Marshall Denton, Vice President of Operations for Wolfe Tory Medical, said, "We use the DCV line in our own products and had sold it to other companies upon request, but it wasn't a core part of our medical device business. When we found out that Value Plastics was interested in acquiring this product line, we were naturally interested because we have confidence in their ability to deliver products on time, at a fair price, and serve us and the customers we have developed."

Value Plastics' double check valve (DCV) is designed to transfer fluid from a clean supply vessel connected to the valve supply port (chimney) using a luer connection or tubing. The fluid is withdrawn from the supply vessel by a syringe connected to the aspiration port. When the syringe is compressed the fluid is then transferred through the exit port without adulterating the fluid. The system provides high flow and two inlet cracking pressure ranges. The valves are manufactured entirely from materials that comply with USP Class VI criteria and are compatible with ethylene oxide, gamma and e-beam sterilization procedures. Numerous applications include wound irrigation, interventional cardiology and radiology procedures, pharmacy operations and others.

Value Plastics will provide complete sales and technical service support for the DCV product line beginning January 1, 2008. The product line will be reviewed for expansion within the first quarter of 2008, and its capabilities will become immediately available to the Value Plastics Design Center to serve specific customer requirements.

Value Plastics, Inc. makes and markets an innovative line of fluid management components designed specifically for flexible tubing. Value Plastics products find global application in demanding healthcare OEM, research and specialty industrial applications.
