Silicone Gloss/Gloss Sheeting for Cell Experiments

SMI announces a line of Silicone Sheeting that has been used as a process aide for cell growth and cell stretching experiments. The gloss/gloss silicone sheeting line is used by many universities around the world as a process aid for growing cells. A thin layer of protein is coated onto the gloss/gloss sheeting prior to attaching the cells. The unique permeation characteristics of the gloss/gloss sheeting allow cells to grow for conducting different kinds of experiments.

The gloss/gloss line of silicone sheeting comes in various standard sizes.

Special Prototyping Services

SMI has developed a cost effective process for proto-typing your silicone applications. If you need prototype tooling, SMI has a cost effective way of helping you develop a part without the expensive cost of injection tooling. Many injection tools can run well over $50,000. We can work with you to save money on tooling until you get the design flaws worked out. We have worked with many companies who could not afford to invest this kind of money upfront in tooling costs. We have found that most companies need the flexibility to change designs without the expensive alternative of re-tooling already fabricated expensive injection tooling. Our process allows you to design a small proto-type tool to determine feasibility. Once the design is confirmed and it works in your application, we can work with you to build an injection tool that meets your need. If volumes do not grow to the volume you expected, we can use the proto-type tooling to meet your production needs. This unique process option has saved many companies money and time.

We can work with you to meet timely deadlines. Many proto-type tools can be produced in 1 to 2 weeks. This allows you the flexibility to meet your project timelines ahead of schedule.

For more information on our unique process and to discuss your specific application, contact Steve Smith at 800-269-6204 or visit our website at www.smimfg.com.
