GW Plastics Meets Rising Demand for China-Based Clean Room Molding and Assembly Services

DONGUUAN, CHINA – June 10, 2008

GW PLASTICS DONGGUAN has responded to the rising demand from its Fortune 1000 customers for China-based clean room precision molding and assembly services with a fully operational Class 8 (formerly Class 100,000) clean room molding and assembly area.

Ben Bouchard, GW Plastics Vice President of International Business Development is well aware of the needs of his customers: "Many of our global healthcare customers have already established production facilities in China. Most others are planning to make investments in the region. Yet many of our customers express concerns over out-sourcing business in China. We have removed the risk of manufacturing in China by offering the same high level of standardization in equipment, operating practices and quality systems as in our North American operations."

GW Plastics has established a strong technical linkage between GW Dongguan and its Technology Center & Tooling Division in Royalton, Vermont, USA. Bouchard adds, "Networked CAD workstations allow 24/7 continuous communication between GW engineers and program managers in the U.S. and China. Our focus is on providing the same high precision tooling and molding capabilities to global customers wherever they are located. Ensuring a high level of consistency in all manufacturing locations allows us to provide our customers with a competitive edge worldwide."

As evidence of that level of standardization, GWD is one of a small number of molders in China practicing Scientific Injection Molding (SIM) with cavity pressure sensors and part diversion technology. SIM is a disciplined approach to determine and control optimum process parameters to produce consistent quality at a lower overall cost. Strategically located in-mold pressure transducers provide constant real-time process feedback and control.

To help build on GW's commitment to SIM technology in its China operation, GW Plastics Dongguan recently hired Ed Boyden as GW Dongguan's Scientific Injection Molding Manager. In his new position, Mr. Boyden provides SIM training and works closely with the production team to support ongoing growth while helping to ensure that quality, delivery and productivity objectives are achieved. Mr. Boyden comes to GW Plastics Dongguan from Carling Technologies in Zhongshan, China, where he held the position of Manufacturing Manager. While in this role, he helped establish Carling's injection molding and progressive die forming metal and tool maintenance departments. Prior to joining Carling Technologies, Mr. Boyden held a progressive series of positions with ABA-PGT in Connecticut, USA, including Manufacturing Engineer and Lead Molding Technician. During his tenure at ABA-PGT, Mr Boyden helped implement and operate their state-of-the-art lights-out injection molding facility for precision gears. GW Plastics and ABA-PGT recently announced the formation of a global strategic alliance for plastic gear systems and integrated motion transfer systems.

GW Plastics President & CEO, Brenan Riehl is excited about the Company's growth and the increasing demands for clean room molding and assembly in the region. "We are committed to fulfilling the needs of our customers. We will continue to grow with them as their needs for cost effective, clean room molding and assembly grows."

Equipped with advanced tiebarless, electric molding machines from Engel and Fanuc Roboshot, GW Dongguan is ISO 9001:2000 and TS 16949 registered. The clean room is located within an impressive 3,700 square meter state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in the An-Li High Tech Park on Zhen'an Road in Chang'an Town, Dongguan City, Guangdong, P.R. China. GWD is only an hour and a half drive from Hong Kong.

GW Plastics is a global, high-precision injection molder, mold builder and contract manufacturer specializing in single-source responsibility for medium-to-high volume, close-tolerance components and assemblies. Ranked among the top 100 molders in North America, GW Plastics' leading-edge technologies, total quality commitment and pursuit of innovation have driven its steady growth since the company was founded in 1955.
