SHOW COVERAGE
In addition to providing 1.1 million sq ft of exhibition space for 1700-plus vendors, this year’s Pack Expo International will showcase speakers to cover the increasingly critical subject of sustainability. At the start of the show, to be held November 9–13 in Chicago, talk will come straight from a source of interest, as Amy Zettlemoyer-Lazar of Wal-Mart gives the keynote address.
Zettlemoyer-Lazar’s talk, “Keeping Score: How Wal-Mart and Its Suppliers Continue to Advance Packaging Change, Innovation, and Sustainability,” will update attendees on Wal-Mart’s sustainability scorecard progress and the next steps in its enforcement. The industry was officially introduced to the scorecard concept at the 2006 Pack Expo International.
This year’s conference offers several talks for pharmaceutical and medical packagers. The opening day of the conference features a talk by Bryan Wesselmann of Rexam titled “CCMA—Key Industry Trends and Innovation.” Following that, Jim Colby of Hewlett-Packard will present “Enhancing Your Anticounterfeiting Arsenal.”
Ralph Dillon and Joseph Noferi of Compliance Surety Associates will present the talk, “Making a Case for Reduced Format Transit Packaging.” It will focus on approaches to creating tamper-
evident packaging for transit.
Show pavilions include an RFID center and a contract packaging pavilion, featuring solutions for outside projects. Colocated with the event is the Converting and Package Printing Expo.
