Catalent Pharma Solutions (Somerset, NJ) announced the appointment of Brian McCarthy as vice president of business development for the printed components business of its packaging services segment. He will be based in Moorestown, NJ. McCarthy comes to Catalent from Cortegra Group Inc., where he was vice president of sales and marketing.

Multivac (Kansas City, MO) announced that the Northeast territory manager for the Medical-Consumer-Industrial division, Marty Moscowitz, will retire. Moscowitz has more than 40 years experience in packaging. Brandon White will assume responsibility for the territory.

Cognex (Natick, MA) has appointed Robert Willett president of its modular vision systems division. Willett last worked with Danaher Corp., where he served as vice president of business development and innovation for the product identification business group. His past positions include president of Videojet Technologies and CEO of Willett International Ltd., which Danaher purchased from Willett and then incorporated into Videojet.

Toray Plastics (America), Inc. (North Kingstown, RI) has promoted Kojiro Maeda from president to chairman of the board. Maeda has spent 32 years working with parent company Toray Industries Inc., and began in the U.S. division 10 years ago. Maeda began his career with Toray in film research and development.

Recognized in RFID World’s awards program as “RFID Visionary of the Year” was Victor Vega, director, IC and tag product marketing, Alien Technology. Judges called Vega “a strong foot soldier in the industry for many years. Vega was a pillar in the Alien RFID Academy and has trained scores of users and partners on RFID.” Vega has trained more than 2000 students in RFID. His technology background includes more than 19 patents.

Neopac (Oberdiessbach, Switzerland) has hired Stephen Lack as its new chief operating officer. Lack will lead the growth of Neopac’s South American and Asian presence in purpose-designed, customer-specific foil tubes for the pharmaceutical industry; he will also foster the company’s presence in Europe and the United States. Formerly CEO of SIGG, Lack has held several positions in product launch and innovation.

Weigh-fill and packaging machinery manufacturer WeighPack Systems Inc. (Montreal), has recruited Alan Benlolo to marketing manager. He was recently marketing manager at a Montreal-based manufacturer and distributor of plastic processing machinery. Benlolo will lead new marketing initiatives at WeighPack and its affiliated divisions. WeighPack also promoted Alex Goyette to territory manager. He will work to develop sales in the New England and Atlantic Canada regions.

Bosch-Rexroth Corp. (Hoffman Estates, IL) has announced its new sales and marketing manager, Dan Throne. Throne will plan, direct, and implement activities for the electric drives and controls technology group. Throne came to Rexroth 22 years ago and has held positions in regional sales, marketing, inside sales engineering, testing, and repair. His latest position was as business development manager for the electric drives and controls business in the packaging industry segment.

MedPlast Inc. (Tempe, AZ) has appointed Chris Morton to be its first chief operating officer. Morton will oversee all manufacturing operations and engineering improvements. For more than 25 years, Morton has worked in contract manufacturing with a focus on medical products. Morton worked for the last 10 years with international integrated contract manufacturer Flextronics. MedPlast also announced its new western region sales director, Paul Rudzinski. He will focus his efforts on healthcare products in the western United States and northern Mexico. Rudzinski comes to MedPlast with 25 years of experience in the capital equipment sector of the plastics industry, including a long managerial role at Milacron Inc.

Valois of America (Congers, NY) has hired Alex Theodorakis to fill the role of president. He will oversee 130 staff at the company’s U.S. headquarters. Theodorakis has worked with Valois for more than 15 years, beginning at Valois Pharma as a U.S. project coordinator. He next directed pharma sales until 2006, until appointed director of manufacturing for production and operations for pharma.

West Pharmaceutical Services Inc. (Lionville, PA) has appointed Matthew T. Mullarkey to chief operating officer. Mullarkey previously held the position of president and CEO of Impact Materials Group, a privately owned engineered materials business. He has worked in senior executive and consulting capacities, including group vice president, global operations at Invacare Corp.
