Vision-guided robotics manufacturer Adept Technology Inc. (Livermore, CA) has shipped its 25,000th robot, an Adept Quattro model. The device was manufactured for Clear Automation Inc. (Southington, CT). Adept has produced generations of robots for more than 20 years. Its flagship Adept Quattro device uses carbon-fiber construction to specialize in high-speed manufacturing, packaging, material handling, and assembly. It is the only commercially available robot that features a four-arm with rotational platform designed for speed, acceleration, and range.

Woodward Jogger Aerators Inc. (East Rutherford, NJ) has announced the sale of a Woodward Jogger Aerator Model FL2840-H to Royale Printing and Packaging (Dartmouth, NS, Canada). The machine operates out of a pit and handles sheet sizes up to 28-in. wide × 40-in. long × 55-in. tall. It is designed for loads up to 2500 lb.

Pharmaceutical packaging company Uhlmann Packaging Systems LP (Towaco, NJ) celebrated its North American 25th anniversary. Uhlmann was established in 1983 in Fairfield, NJ, and has grown to include a team of 75 sales, service, and parts professionals working out of a 65,000-sq-ft facility in Towaco. The North American Uhlmann is a subsidiary of the Germany-based Uhl­mann Group, founded in 1948 by Josef Uhlmann.

Sun Plastics (Clearwater, MN), a division of T.O. Plastics, will receive its ISO 9001:2000 certification in early 2008. Sun Plastics has been in business since 1980, manufacturing thermoformed plastic parts and packaging. The company offers Class 100,000 cleanroom molding of medical devices and supplies.

Solvay Advanced Polymers (Alpharetta, GA) has launched its Solviva family of biomaterials offered for use in implantable medical devices. The line features four polymers: Zeniva PEEK, Proniva SRP, Veriva PPSU, and Eviva PSU. The launch is the culmination of more than 18 months of planning and extensive investments in production facilities, biocompatibility testing, and the installation of a stringent production process, all which comply with ISO 13485.
