GSK’s Handipak for Panadol Offers Discreet Portability

By David Vaczek

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has put a new face on packaging for Panadol (paracetamol). The pain-relief product has been packaged for several years in the United Kingdom in an award-winning booklike design, produced by Chesapeake Corp. (Richmond, VA) subsidiary Field Boxmore.

For the Australian market, GSK has developed the Panadol Handipak. Blistered caplets are housed in a sleek plastic container, in a design by Invetech.

“Panadol Handipak was launched to add practicality, style, and modernity to a brand that already signifies effective and trustworthy pain relief. It is slim enough to be discreetly carried in a pocket or handbag,” says Shannon Savic, group brand manager, Panadol, GSK Consumer Healthcare (Ermington, NSW, Australia).

Manufactured at a GSK facility in Dungarvan, the Handipak combines three components—package, blistered Panadol Rapid 500-mg caps, and instructions—into one package that provides excellent protection for the blisters, says Savic.

“Handipak’s portability appeals to consumers who need to get on with their lives wherever they are by providing pain relief when they need it,” she adds.
