The manufacturer recently acquired Precision Systems (Raanana, Israel), a real-time location systems provider. The site provides easy access to and navigation of the integrated products and solutions offered by the combined companies. Users can find detailed information on conductive inks and passive and active RFID products from the home page or using the navigation bar at the top of each page. The site also features a page on the manufacturer’s Certified Partner Program, a consortium of vendors that offer services for RFID projects.

A nonprofit organization dedicated to providing scientific, technical, and regulatory information to the pharmaceutical community offers educational Webinars from its Web site. Two Webinars are scheduled for April. The first will be April 19 and will be hosted by Benoît Verjans, commercial director, Aseptic Technologies. Verjans will present “The Closed Vial Technology: A New Concept in Aseptic Filling to Increase Patient Safety.” On April 26, Thomas Decker of GE Healthcare and Chet Shemanski of MODA Technology Partners will focus on improving process efficiency in their presentation, “Applying Lean Six Sigma Principles to Environmental Monitoring Processes.”

The Association of Industrial Metallizers, Coaters, and Laminators (AIMCAL) hosts four blogs designed to serve as informational resources. The blogs cover vacuum web coating, web coating, web handling and converting, and extrusion coating. Each blog has its own URL but can also be accessed from the AIMCAL home page (www.aimcal.org) and the Converting Equipment Manufacturers Association home page (CEMA is a division of AIMCAL; www.cema-converting.org). Each blog is written by an industry professional and offers techniques and information on the process being covered. They may occasionally also feature guest authors and white paper postings.

A company that develops analytical testing instruments has a monthly Webinar series. The company’s consulting and testing division conducts the free seminars live on the first Wednesday of every month. The sessions enable participants to call in and ask questions of the scientist or engineer hosting the Webinar. The Webinars can also be downloaded later as PDFs containing PowerPoint presentations. A calendar of the 2007 Webinars is available on the company’s site. Topics coming up this summer include water-vapor-permeation measurement techniques on nonwoven materials, permeation machine maintenance, and a case study of oxygen and water vapor transmission rates.
