PACKAGING RESOURCE CENTER: SHOW COVERAGE

In the midst of a heated debate over the ethanol boom (ethanol is used to make the corn-based polymer polylactic acid, or PLA, which can be used for packaging) and its effects on corn country citizens, and while also preparing for the onslaught of foliage tourists this fall, Minnesota is popping with activity. And that activity is only going to intensify when the Midwest’s largest OEM event, the collocated Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) Minneapolis and MidPak shows, takes over the Minneapolis Convention Center October 24 through 26.
The annual event attracts approximately 700 exhibitors, and last year it boasted more than 7000 OEM buyers. MD&M Minneapolis showcases leading regional, national, and international suppliers of manufacturing equipment, contract manufacturing services, electronics, plastics, disposables, and raw materials. MidPak showcases manufacturers and distributors of packaging machinery, materials, components, containers, and supplies. It also features automation and handling equipment and systems, and allied support services.

On Thursday, October 26, the MD&M conference will feature sessions on medical device packaging with chairperson Douglas Stockdale of Stockdale Associates Inc. Part One of the sessions will focus on packaging engineering. Part Two will begin with “Sterile Barrier System Validation and Expiration Dating Considerations,” and will conclude with a presentation on distribution and shipping validation.
