TCP Reliable (Edison, NJ) and Alternatives Technology Pharma (ATP; Laval, QC, Canada) have signed multiyear commercial agreements for the temperature-controlled packaging and cold-chain markets in North America. TCP will be the exclusive reseller and distributor of ATP’s cold-chain services and monitoring solutions for the U.S. market. ATP will be the exclusive sales agent of TCP’s temperature-controlled packaging solutions in Canada. ATP and TCP have also agreed to install a joint-venture laboratory in Laval, QC, Canada, for all design and testing activities related to temperature-controlled and cold-chain packaging. Under the agreement, TCP acquires the rights for commercializing ATP’s computerized solutions, ATP-ThermoProfile, ATP-Sentinel, ATP-Mirador, and ATP-DOCOS.
EnviroCooler (Huntington Beach, CA) is partnering with Premier Packaging (Louisville, KY), a supplier of packaging materials, to expand its manufacturing and distribution opportunities in the eastern United States. Premier employs approximately 160 people to serve the Great Lakes, central, and southeast parts of the United States. The company provides corrugated shipping cartons and distributes industrial supplies and foam contract packaging, including polyethylene, polyurethane, and EPS packaging. The partnership is part of EnviroCooler’s goal to further its domestic and global expansion.
Helvoet Pharma (Pennsauken, NJ) is expanding its analytical services for pharmaceutical packaging by collaborating with Toxicon (Bedford, MA), an international laboratories and testing services company. In joining capabilities, Helvoet will now offer leachables studies and toxicity studies on primary packaging components and entire container systems. The company will also continue to supply extractables reports for all of its rubber compounds. The leachables and toxicity studies will be performed at the Toxicon laboratories in the United States and Europe. Helvoet maintains that the collaboration is based on mutual independence of the companies’ laboratories to guarantee completely impartial results.
Beckman Coulter Inc. (Fullerton, CA) has integrated a high-performance, six-axis Motoman HP3JC robot into its automated liquid-handling line. The robot from Motoman Inc. (West Carrollton, OH), as part of the integrated line, will assist in providing drug discovery, screening, and sample-prep customers with an industrialized option for ultrahigh throughput. The robot, rail setup, and software controls will be optimized for use with Beckman Coulter’s Biomek FX or NX automated liquid-handling systems and integrated solutions. These integrated solutions include scheduling software, liquid handlers and peripherals such as readers and incubators, and walk-away automation. Beckman Coulter is a manufacturer of biomedical testing instrument systems. Motoman Inc. is a subsidiary of Yaskawa Electric America and Yaskawa Electric Corp. (Kitakyushu, Japan).
