It collates blister packs in cartons into groups of five, 30 times per minute, then loads them into cartons, collates again, and packs them into corrugated cases. The second machine that Abbott integrated into its system was Europack’s Swiftpack line, which uses pick-and-place robotics to top-load cases at speeds up to eight per minute. The machine can be changed over in 30 minutes. Europack also integrated its bottom-loading case packer for Abbott’s anesthetic product line. With this machine, bottles either stand alone or are cartoned before being loaded into cases. Various sizes of cartons can be used, and inserts can also be incorporated with this case packer.
