Plastic Bottles & closures
Child-resistant, tamper-evident closures add extra security to a range of bottles.
Pharmaceutical Containers
A company offers stock bottles or customized designs. Product designs are developed from a 3-D perspective using desktop software. The H line of containers features minimum taper and concavity, which makes even, wrinkle-free labeling possible. The material used in the containers displays moisture-barrier properties, making the containers suitable for pharmaceutical applications. The M-style thread design improves closure application and removal-torque consistency. To ensure quality control, the manufacturer uses a TopWave automatic vision system, an in-line vision system, ultrasonic gauges, a spectrophotometer, and other technology. Child-Resistant Closures

One-piece, smooth-wall polypropylene closures are child-resistant and feature a flip top. The closures, which are also senior friendly, were produced in response to recent regulations drawn up by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The manufacturer is a full-service supplier of glass, plastic, and aluminum containers, as well as metal and plastic closures. It maintains facilities in New York, Connecticut, and Maryland. Packaging Bottles
A line of bottles is resistant to chemicals and allows the user to see the contents inside. NVision packaging bottles are made of a clear polypropylene copolymer resin. The bottles are available with HDPE tamper-evident closures; they feature a tear-away ring that remains on the bottle when the cap is removed. Once closed, the bottle cannot be opened without leaving the ring behind. The bottles can be ordered with a leakproof valve seal, a lined closure, or a lined closure with a foil induction seal, all with the tamper-evident closure. The bottles have 15% headspace and are available in 125 ml, 500 ml, 1 L, and 2 L. Nalge Nunc International Corp., Rochester, NY; 800/276-2543; www.nalgene.com.
Squat-Style Bottle

A line of PET Boston Round bottles includes three new sizes of squat-style bottles. The squat style is wider and more rounded-looking than conventional Boston Rounds. The base of the squat bottle is wide and flat, making a bottle that incorporates a pump, sprayer, or similar dispenser more stable on a table surface. The 8-, 12-, and 16-oz bottles are each available in three continuous-thread neck finishes: 24-400, 24-410, and 24-415. Customers can match the color of their Boston Rounds to existing packaging lines. Alpha Packaging, St. Louis, MO; 800/421-4772; www.alphap.com.
One-Piece Closure
A child-resistant, senior-friendly closure is designed specifically for healthcare and pharmaceutical applications. The closure’s tabs provide visual and audible verification that the cap is latched; an audible “snap” is heard as the cap is being turned, and the user experiences the sensation of the tabs dropping into place as the cap closes. The cost-effective design requires only one molding operation, which eliminates the need for secondary assembly. The closure is available in the following sizes: 24, 28, 33, 38, 45, and 53 mm.
