Almedica North America (Allendale, NJ), a provider of clinical trial material management services, has promoted Chris Brown to the role of director of operations, process and labeling. In this new role, Brown will be responsible for crafting and implementing operations process improvements aimed at further enhancing Almedica North America’s efficiency. He was previously associate director of production services at the company.

Amcor Flexibles Healthcare (Mundelein, IL) has appointed Marc Owens as business development manager for extruded films and bags. In this position, Owens will be responsible for growing Amcor’s extruded films and bags sales to the healthcare market. He has previous sales, business development, and product management experience in the printing ink industry. He also holds a BS in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois and is pursuing an MBA from Northwestern University.

Alcoa has announced that Pedro Escudero has joined Alcoa Embalaje Flexible in Rubi, Spain, as plant manager. Alcoa Embalaje Flexible, which is part of the Alcoa Flexible Packaging business unit, produces flexible packaging laminations for the pharmaceutical, industrial, food and beverage, and tobacco markets. Escudero was most recently plant manager for Bic Graphic Europe, S.A., a customized lighters
and stationary products producer, in Tarragona, Spain. Alcoa also announced that Carol Rod has been named plant manager for Alcoa Flexible Packaging’s Bellwood Printing plant located in Richmond, VA. The Bellwood plant performs rotogravure printing for flexible packaging and cartons, laminates and coats multi-layered packaging, and extrusion lamination for multi-walled pouch material. Rod joined Bellwood Printing in 1987 as a color computer analyst. In 2001, she was named plant manager for Alcoa Flexible Packaging’s Louisville, KY laminating business.
In addition, Alcoa Flexible Packaging announced that David P. Dumbleton has joined the company as technical director, responsible for leading the technical development of new packaging solutions. He will also be based in the Richmond office.
