Open House Attracts Pharma
More than 250 professionals attended the technical open house hosted by IMA North America in Bristol, PA, which included a wine tasting, machine demonstrations, and seminars.

In a toast to the pharmaceutical packaging industry, IMA North America held a technical open house, highlighted by wine tasting and other hospitality events. Held May 18–20 at the firm’s North American Headquarters in Bristol, PA, the open house included machine demonstrations, seminars with guest speakers, and other activities. More than 250 professionals from the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries attended.

“We wanted to bring customers to our new headquarters, which is three times the size of our previous headquarters in Fairfield, CT,” explains Warren Roman, president of IMA North America. “Our expansion includes test rooms for solid-dose packaging lines, an expanded spare parts shop, and a machine shop for emergency repairs, among other offerings,” Roman adds. “We also wanted our customers to meet our employees—we consider them an asset.”

In operation during the open house were several machines, including blister packaging machines, tablet presses and capsule fillers, vial washers, tunnels and aseptic fillers, nonsterile fillers and labelers, tube fillers, cartoners, and other end-of-line equipment.

Invited to speak were Len Valeo of Systech International (Cranbury, NJ), who presented ideas for maintaining line control and complying with 21 CFR Part 11; Greg Young of Alcoa (Richmond, VA), who spoke about blister packaging materials and materials equivalency testing; and Dave Mulligan of La Calhène (Rush City, MN), who shared the latest isolation technology. Marco Vacchi, president of IMA Worldwide (Bologna, Italy), was also in attendance.

Roman reports that IMA North America will host another open house in the future, timing the event around the firm’s future technological introductions.
