Industry BriefsRovema Packaging Machines (Atlanta) has created a customer service center on the West Coast. Rick Kidd, currently based out of the Atlanta headquarters, will be relocated to California to head the facility.
Steris Corp. (Mentor, OH) has expanded its Steris Isomedix Services operations in the Midwest. This investment strengthens the company’s position in the contract sterilization, microbial reduction, and materials modification industry.
EVC Films (Cordova, TN) has installed an automatic slitting line in its pharmaceutical films plant in Boetzingen, Germany. The slitting line incorporates a surface-inspection camera system along with automatic knife settings, core feeding, and product labeling and packaging. The company has also announced the launch of its new Aclar laminate barrier line of films. The Aclar line includes a newly developed PVC base film that better complements the physical attributes of the Aclar film.
Alcoa Flexible Packaging (Richmond, VA) is launching its Pouch Express rapid-response printing program. The program provides phar-maceutical manufacturers with fine rotogravure printing from the company’s Downingtown center on small quantities within six weeks.
Pechiney Plastic Packaging Inc. (Chicago) has installed four blown-film lines at its Neenah, WI, plant. The lines were installed to keep up with growing demand in the marketplace for multilayer high-barrier films.
Trident (Brookfield, CT) is accepting entries for its Tough Love contest. The contest allows ink-jet users to showcase the rough treatment or “tough love” their printers endure while providing premium print quality. Entrants can submit a brief paragraph of 500 words or less explaining the challenging industrial environment in which their Trident printheads perform.
