A self-adhesive oxygen-absorbing label that adheres to the inside of packaging features a solid-format absorbent designed to make the potential for product contamination virtually nil. The desiccant used in the FreshMax SLD label cannot mix with the packaged product if the label is cut or torn when the package is opened. The label measures 1 1/8 x 1 5/8 in., has a 5-cm3 capacity, and can be employed in a variety of pharmaceutical, food, and other applications. A package-minimizing multipanel label intended as a replacement for carton and insert consists of a cover label that fits snugly to any size of container and protects informative detail printed on as many as 13 folded panels.
