PRODUCT UPDATE

Inform, Warn, and Get Attention with Labels

Labels provide the information necessary for sending a product to market, whether they contain single bar codes or layers of instructions.

A complete line of labels is designed to be used in conjunction with a company's printers. Techno Therm labels and ribbons yield high print quality. The company offers a comprehensive line of OEM print engines, direct-thermal printers, thermal-transfer printers, label software, and print accessories. Sato America Inc., Sunnyvale, CA.

Water-soluble pressure-sensitive adhesives wash away in water without leaving residue. The VanishTack line of adhesives provides secure adhesion to papers, films, plastics, glass, and metals. When applied to water-soluble papers or films, VanishTack can create a washable label. These labels can be used for recyclable containers as well as for products whose users may want to remove price and bar code stickers easily. AMS Tech, Mattituck, NY.

A printing company with capabilities in commercial-offset printing and flexographic printing can create custom labels. The company's flexographic specialties division can handle labels with a simple design to labels requiring high-quality, multicolor printing. Products and capabilities include high-quality packaging labels, printing up to eight colors, variable adhesives, UV varnish, lamination, metallics, fluorescents, foils, and custom die-cutting for labels and stickers. Challenge Printing Inc., Eden Prairie, MN.

An ISO 9002–registered printing company specializes in creating pressure-sensitive label items, flexible film, and other printed products for the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. The company offers primary packaging labels using up to eight colors, InfoPac resealable expanded-content labels, and X-pandaLabel wraparound labels. These custom products are produced using flexo, UV flexo, rotary-letterpress, and offset printing technologies. Tursso Cos., St. Paul, MN.

Clear labels are designed to attract customers' attention and allow them to see the product inside the container. AquaClear labeling offers a no-label look; bold raised graphics can allow for a three-dimensional look. The labels also offer the extra capability of providing additional impact area on the inside of the product container. Using the product container's front panel as a window, AquaClear gives consumers the opportunity to see a message or graphics through a transparent product on the interior back panel of the product's container. The Kennedy Group, Eastlake, OH.

Rotating labels provide expanded contents. The Spinformation label increases a product's information-carrying surface by 75%. The increased information area is created by a dual-ply construction in which the top, or rotating, ply carries a clear or open window that rotates as the customer turns the label to reveal text or graphics on the stationary base label. CCL Label Inc., Rosemont, IL.
