Over the past half century, product development firms in every sector of the life sciences have made significant contributions to the advance of medical science and the technologies at the disposal of healthcare professionals. The advanced diagnostics, medical devices, and biopharmaceuticals produced by such firms have played a major role in improving healthcare throughout the world.
However, many experts believe that the challenges facing today’s healthcare system are bigger and more difficult than those of the past. These challenges arise because the diseases that now confront healthcare professionals are often harder to diagnose, more complex to understand, and more difficult to treat—and they are occurring in a population that is older than any the world has ever known. Meeting these challenges will require the combined talents of companies from every sector, each contributing its resources and ingenuity to devise better therapies.
Making Contact
BIOMEDevice Forum offers an opportunity for executive-level education and networking among company leaders from the biotechnology, medical device, and pharmaceutical disciplines. The event will also offer registered attendees access to biopartnering.com, a robust set of online conference planning tools that enables users to plan and schedule partnering meetings in advance of the event.
Created in 2004 by Technology Vision Group LLC (Santa Cruz, CA), biopartnering.com enables attendees to create their own company and product profiles, prospect among other attendees, and use the automated preevent and onsite meeting scheduling system. The online system creates optimal business development opportunities by helping attendees identify the prospects and targets that best fit their needs, and uses effective time-management tools to best manage attendees’ time at the event.
The functions of biopartnering.com will also extend to companies exhibiting at the BIOMEDevice Exposition, a concurrent trade show event. The exposition will feature 300 suppliers to the medical device and biopharmaceutical industries, with special-focus pavilions for lab automation, cleanroom systems, and IVD technologies.
Connect, Conveniently
Registered BIOMEDevice Forum attendees will be e-mailed their biopartnering.com usernames and passwords beginning in August. With this access to the system, attendees will be able to begin reviewing the profiles of other attendees and exhibiting companies.
The biopartnering.com meeting scheduler will go live in September. At that time users will be able to begin arranging one-on-one meetings with other attendees prior to and during the conference.
Registered users have direct access to the online network via an exclusive messaging system that facilitates contact and information management. Users will be able to submit meeting requests to other attendees. When a meeting request is accepted, the system will schedule the meeting to a mutually convenient time and place.
Collaborate
To address the unique challenges facing today’s healthcare system, life sciences firms require unique solutions. In recent years, many companies have begun actively pursuing cross-sector opportunities for developing next-generation products.
However, making connections, comparing competencies, and establishing a rapport with potential technology partners can be a daunting and time-consuming task. By providing a venue in which company leaders can come together in the spirit of innovation through cooperation, the organizers of BIOMEDevice Forum hope to kindle the types of collaborations that will ultimately lead to a more advanced and integrated future for healthcare.
