Company executives and responsible employees should observe the following basic rules in order to properly use and preserve their company's trademark rights.

• Always distinguish the marks from surrounding printed text, for example, by putting the mark in all capital letters or using initial capitals and placing the mark within quotation marks.
• Always provide notice that the mark is claimed as a trademark, for example, by adding the symbol ™ or ^®, or by including a phrase such as "Reg. U.S. Pat. & Tm. Off."
• Always use the mark in the same form, not varying the spelling or pattern of capitalization.
• Always use the mark as an adjective or as a proper name, and never use it generically.
• Frequently and prominently use the mark in conjunction with its generic term of description.
• Never change the grammatical form of the mark, for example, by using it as a possessive or plural, or adapting it as a verb.
