Ajit S. Gill is president and CEO of Inhale Therapeutics (San Carlos, CA). Before joining Inhale, Gill was vice president and general manager of Kodak's interactive systems division. He has also served as chief financial officer for TRW-Fujitsu, director of business development for Visicorp, and as start-up president for three high-technology companies.

Kshitij Mohan, PhD, is the chief regulatory and technology strategist in the FDA practice of the law firm of King & Spalding (Washington, DC), where he advises medical device, biologics, and pharmaceutical firms on product and business development issues. Mohan was previously a senior vice president and chief technology officer of Boston Scientific Corp. He went to Boston Scientific in 2000 from Baxter International, where he was a corporate vice president responsible for all corporate research and technical services, including technology strategy development. Before joining Baxter in 1988, Mohan served in various capacities at FDA, including heading up product evaluation and approval of medical devices.

Stephen N. Oesterle, MD, is senior vice president for medicine and technology at Medtronic Inc. (Minneapolis), where he provides executive leadership for scientific research, technology strategies, and relationships with medical communities. He joined the company in January 2002, after serving as associate professor of medicine at Harvard University Medical School and director of invasive cardiology services at Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston). Oesterle has been an advisor and consultant to medical device companies, financial institutions, and Internet service providers.

Norbert G. Riedel, PhD, is chief scientific officer, member of the executive management team, and a corporate vice president of Baxter International Inc. (Deerfield, IL), having served in that capacity since May 2001. He joined Baxter in 1998 as president of the recombinant business unit of Baxter BioScience. Prior to joining Baxter he was head of worldwide biotechnology and head of worldwide core research functions at Hoechst Marion Roussel. Riedel serves on the boards of directors of Genencor International Inc. and Genome Therapeutics Corp., and is a member of the scientific advisory board of Evotec.

Scott R. Ward has been president of Medtronic Neurological since January 2000. Earlier this year he was named senior corporate vice president and president of Medtronic Neurological and Diabetes. He is responsible for the company's global diabetes, gastroenterology and urology, and neurological businesses. From 1995 to 2000, he was vice president and general manager of the Medtronic drug-delivery business. Before moving into general management, Ward was responsible for Medtronic's neurological ventures organization, which develops new stimulation and drug-delivery therapies for the treatment of pain, spasticity, and Parkinson's disease.

John P. Wareham
is chairman, president, and CEO of Beckman Coulter Inc. (Fullerton, CA). He
became CEO in September 1998 and was named chairman in February 1999. Wareham
joined Beckman Instruments in 1984 as vice president for the diagnostics systems
group, a position he held through October 1993. From 1993 to 1998 he served
as president and COO, leading an aggressive acquisition strategy that ultimately
resulted in the union of Beckman Instruments and Coulter Corp. Wareham also
serves on the boards of Steris Corp. (Mentor, OH), AdvaMed (Washington, DC),
the Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI (Arlington, VA), and the National Association
of Manufacturers (Washington, DC).
