FDA Wants National Network of Orthopedic Registries
FDA wants to create a national network of registries that would help the agency assess postmarket safety and effectiveness of orthopedic implants. It would be part of the Sentinel Initiative, a postmarket monitoring program announced in June. The goal is to help the agency more rapidly find connections between medical products and adverse events, enabling faulty products to be fixed or pulled off the market sooner, so they affect fewer patients.
