The Lullaby Of MD&M East

If it's June, we must be in New York. Yes, it's that time of year again, when medical device designers and engineers from across the land descend on NYC for three days of conferences, brochure grabbing, and networking. MD&M East sets up shop at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center from June 13 to 15, and this year's show looks to be a great one. Not only because it's the largest design and manufacturing tradeshow on the East Coast, but also because several exciting new features have been added.

If you're looking for the latest and greatest in automation, check out the ATX Automation Technology Expo, located within the MD&M section of the show. This brand new expo presents 90 of the world's leading producers of custom automation and assembly equipment, robotics, motion control, sensors, and manufacturing control systems.

Don't want to roam aimlessly, trying to find electrode or tubing suppliers? No worries. On Upper Level 3 of the show, you'll find the Information Superhighway, a 10-ft strip of "road" dotted with search terminals. Plunk yourself down here and use the FindIt! icon on the desktop to access the Google-powered directory search tool. Once you've located the suppliers you need, print out your search results. Need to check your e-mail? You can do that here, too. Isn't it lovely to get all your needs met in one fell swoop?

Lastly, wear your lucky socks on Wednesday, June 15. Why? Because that's the day when the iPod Squad will be cruising the show floor, handing out iPod Shuffle MP3 players to random attendees. Reportedly they will be handing out the players at a rate of one per minute. I'm no math whiz, but those sound like good odds to me.
