The winners of the twelfth-annual Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) competition have been announced; however, their gold or silver designations remain secret until the awards presentation ceremony at MD&M East in June. Sponsored by Medical Device & Diagnostic Industry magazine and organized by Canon Communications LLC, publisher of MPMN, MDEA is the premier awards program for the medical technology community. It recognizes innovations that are changing how patients receive and use healthcare products and how manufacturers make them. This year's winners reflect efforts to improve remote-monitoring technologies and increase patient safety through ease-of-use, antimicrobial coatings, and other features. The MDEA presentation ceremony will be held on June 10 at MD&M East at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.
