Microtest Laboratories (Agawam, MA), a provider of package validation services, is now offering accelerated aging studies for medical device manufacturers. The company can use these studies to help medical device OEMs predict what will happen to the packaging or packaged device during normal storage conditions.
Accelerated aging studies are used to set preliminary shelf-life dates indicating the period during which the product will remain stable for its intended use. All test chambers are monitored by supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) temperature-monitoring systems that alert Microtest personnel to out-of-tolerance conditions. Monitoring test chambers 24/7, the SCADA systems also feature backup power and storage.
By providing testing services at a single source, products are not exposed to temperature or humidity hazards in transit between tests, according to the company. Its accelerated aging studies include standard chamber temperature studies and poststability and aging testing. The company also offers custom aging studies.
