Live from MD&M East: Medical Design Excellence Awards Gold and Silver Distinctions Announced

The 12th annual Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) presentation ceremony took place this morning at MD&M East at the Jacob K. Javits convention center in New York City. Representing all facets of healthcare in the competition’s 10 product categories, the manufacturers and suppliers responsible for the 32 winning products learned for the first time whether they had earned gold or silver award distinctions for their innovations. [To learn more about each of the products and the companies that developed them, check out MPMN's Web-exclusive MDEA feature.]

The only program devoted exclusively to honoring companies that develop and manufacture medical products, the MDEA competition is presented by Canon Communications (Los Angeles) and is judged by an impartial panel of jurors who consider such criteria as use of materials and components, ability of the design team to overcome design and engineering challenges, and aspects of the design that improve the manufacturer’s profitability. The panel also considers user-related features that improve healthcare delivery and design and engineering features that provide enhanced benefits to the patient.

The following is a list of the gold and silver award winners in the order they were announced at the ceremony this morning (alphabetically by product name).
