Label Inspection System
An inspection system specialized for clinical trial labels is available from a provider of application-specific machine vision products. A complete hardware and software solution that inspects the variable and fixed content of clinical trial labels in sizes up to A4 (210 × 297 mm), the Avia system self-teaches from printed samples, PDF documents, and rasterized preprint images and then compares acquired images of printed labels with source information in PDF or graphical formats. It is language and print-orientation independent; corrects for character drift and print warping; carries out optical character recognition, optical character verification, or image comparison of variable-content information; and accommodates labels having regions with different inspection sensitivity settings. The system stores all label images for postinspection review, and generates difference reports for examination by QC or production personnel. It is offered to reduce human inspection time to a bare minimum and to maximize label inspection throughput.
