IDEX Corp. (Northbrook, IL; www.idexcorp.com), a manufacturer of fluidics components and subsystems, has created a new business segment dedicated to health and science technologies. IDEX Health & Science (Oak Harbor, WA; www.idex-hs.com) comprises 10 companies that IDEX Corp. has acquired since 1995, all of which specialize in various fluidics technologies.
Each company brings a different technology or component to the new division’s range of products and services designed to support small-scale applied fluidics solutions.
Half of the companies offer various types of pumps. Gast Manufacturing (Benton Harbor, MI; www.gastmfg.com) offers vacuum pumps and compressors; Ismatec (Glattbrugg, Switzerland; www.ismatec.com) specializes in peristaltic pumps; Micropump (Vancouver, WA; www.micropump.com) produces gear and microannular gear pumps; Sapphire Engineering (Pocasset, MA; www.sapphireengineering.com) provides precision dispense pumps, as well as components and flow cells; and Trebor International (West Jordan, UT; www.treborintl.com) manufactures air-operated, double-diaphragm pumps.
The remaining half of the group specializes in precision components and fluidics- and gas-management systems. Eastern Plastics (Bristol, CT; www.easternplastics.com) offers manifolds and high-precision machined components. Jun-Air (Norresundby, Denmark; www.jun-air.com) produces quiet, clean-air compressors. Rheodyne (Rohnert Park, CA; www.rheodyne.com) provides low- and high-pressure valves. Systec (New Brighton, MN; www.systecmn.com) manufactures degassers and debubblers. Upchurch Scientific (Oak Harbor, WA; www.upchurch.com) offers a range of fittings and tubing.
