A maker of molding equipment will open a facility in India. Plastic Engineering & Technical Services (PETS.; Auburn Hills, MI; www.petsinc.net) is building a manufacturing plant in Chennai, India. The 25,000-sq-ft center is scheduled to open in fall 2006. It will serve India’s growing injection molding market.
According to a recent economic report submitted by the Indian government, the manufacturing sector in India grew 11.3% in the second quarter of 2004–2005, up from 7.9% in the first quarter of 2004–2005.
The India-based facility will be used to develop hot-runner manifold system components and custom-designed systems for its customers located in India and Asia. The company plans to employ manufacturing engineers and service technicians during the first year of operations.
PETS makes components for hot-runner manifolds and supporting systems, such as temperature controllers, valve-gate sequencers, and valve gates. In addition to its U.S. headquarters, the firm has offices and manufacturing plants in the UK, China, and Italy.
