FCC Adjusts Frequency

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has expanded the frequency associated with the Medical Implant Communications Service (MICS). The core band is at 402–405 MHz, but the commission has added 2 MHz of newly designated spectrum (401–402 and 405–406 MHz) in the bands bookending the original range. The MedRadio Service accommodates body-worn and implanted medical devices, "including those using either listen-before-talk (LBT) frequency monitoring or non-LBT spectrum access methods, in designated portions of the 401-406 MHz band," according to the commission’s summary statement.
