A new laboratory in Taiwan has been established to strengthen the region's involvement in biomedical technology. Officials say that the lab is part of the country’s efforts to strengthen the local biomedical technology industry, specifically in the areas of medical devices and electronics. The Medical Electronics and Device Technology Center (MED) of Industrial Technology Research Center (ITRI) is part of the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) campus. NCKU is primarily known for its engineering prowess. However, the school will collaborate with 17 other research and academic entities in southern Taiwan to boost the biomedical industry’s standing in the country. The collaboration is also meant to help bring the Taiwan’s industry system up to international standards.
