Electrical Isolators
A range of isolators for ±6-kV electrical isolation feature infrared LEDs and NPN photodarlingtons packaged in a high-dielectric plastic housing and can provide isolation in contaminated environments. The OPI7320 and OPI7340 series of devices have typical 0.30-in. pin spacing and are pin-compatible with standard dual in-line packages. Users can substitute them for existing pins in upgrading their designs for medical equipment applications requiring high voltage isolation between input and output circuits. Offered with an LED peak wavelength of 890 or 935 nm, the isolators have a forward dc current of 50 mA and a reverse voltage of 2 V. Their power dissipation rating is 100 mW.
