Disposable syringes
Hemoplast offers disposable injection syringes, catheters, IV cannulae and blood transfusion sets. Etalon disposable syringes can be used for hypodermic and intramuscular injection of medicinal agents and for suction of different fluids from an organism. The syringe cylinder is made from polypropylene copolymer for transparency and the piston inside the cylinder and cone connection of the syringe tip with the injection needle are air- and watertight.

Check valves
Filtertek designs and manufactures check valves for applications such as infusion systems, IV lines and medical diagnostic equipment. The check valves use USP Class VI materials, are latex-free and compatible with chemotherapy treatments. Seldinger needles

Check valve in luer adaptor
Lee Products has introduced a miniature 2.5 mm diameter check valve that can be installed into a luer adaptor for critical flow control. The check valves can be integrated into high volume, automated assembly lines and are suitable for liquid and gas applications. The check valves are reportedly 100% flow tested on air and the hard seat design feature limits leakage in the checked direction to 20 sccm of air at 172 kPa differential. Features include cracking pressures available from 2 to 50 psid, bidirectional installation and fully open Lohm rate of 750 Lohms, equivalent to an orifice diameter of 0.8 mm. The disposable products are made from stainless steel and have a polypropylene luer adaptor.

IV cannulae

Check valves
The West Group supplies a variety of components for fluid flow applications including check valves. The F-2804 series check valves from Air Logic permit flow in one direction only. Operation is based on the movement of a small disc that shifts within the housing as the pressure differential changes from forward to reverse. A flat surface on one side of the disc seals flow, while the other side allows flow to pass. It reportedly features maximum forward flow and low cracking pressure and is available in a chemical resistant housing made of polypropylene.

Prefilled saline IV syringes
Baxa has launched a new line of prefilled saline IV syringes in the UK. The ZR flush syringes are available as 10 and 5 mL units. Each syringe is clearly labelled to reduce liquid medication errors and the clear syringe barrels assist visual inspection prior to use. A pull-off tip cap indicates when the seal is broken and prevents syringe reuse. The syringes, which are prepared and packaged in a sterile environment, have a two-year shelf life and expiry dates are clearly visible.

IV flow rate controller
Lucor has introduced a high precision flow rate controller for flow adjustment in IV applications. The ExaFlo is designed for a secure grip and reportedly allows easy and accurate adjustment with a simple turn of the flow contrller. According to the company, it offers high accuracy on lower flow rates and can be safely used in paediatric therapies. Graduated rates can be selected and infusion rate adjustments can be reproduced for restarting infusions.

Unimed offers reusable needles for applications such as injection and puncture; blood sampling and infusing; biopsy of various organs, including bone marrow needles; anaesthesia and radiology; and opthalmology. Ultraminiature duckbill check valves
Beswick Engineering has designed a line of ultraminiature duckbill check valves that can withstand up to 250 psig (approximately 1724 kPa) backpressure. The CKV-M3 check valve is suitable for gas and pneumatic applications that cannot tolerate leaks and back flow. The check valve measures 0.75 in. (1.9 cm) long and the body is made from 5 mm hexagonal stock. It weighs just above 2 g and is available in brass or stainless steel. Optional seal materials include silicone, fluorocarbon and EPDM.
