Linear voice coil actuators
BEI Kimco Magnetics has introduced a family of linear voice coil actuators that provides increased safety and long service life. The actuators feature two patented spring designs based on magnetic, technology, which reportedly ensures constant and precise valve position in open or closed setting when electrical power is off. The magnetic technology also means the actuators are “contact-less,” utilise fewer parts and have no additional friction. The actuators are suitable for use in safety-critical applications that depend on maintaining a constant valve setting. Customers can specify actuator size, stroke force, stall force, peak force and other essential performance requirements.

Footswitches with USB interfaces
Steute has developed a USB interface that can transmit footswitch signals to conventional PCs. Up to eight digital and three analogue inputs are possible. The USB connection allows transmitted information to be visualised; for example, the exact position of a pedal or joystick can be displayed on a PC screen, while the operating status of actuators can be displayed on superordinate visualisation systems. This increases transparency, informs operators and staff about activated device functions and thus helps to avoid functional or operational defects.
