Submitting Articles to Medical Device Technology Magazine
Medical Device Technology (MDT) welcomes manuscripts on subjects pertinent to the design, development, production and manufacture of medical devices and diagnostic products. Its readers are involved in all aspects of medical device manufacturing: they design and develop new products, control production lines, run quality control/assurance departments, ensure regulatory compliance. They are highly qualified and have a high level of technical knowledge. MDT's primary purpose is to give these people information that helps them to do their jobs more effectively. Its secondary purpose is to keep them informed about trends within their industry.
Conditions of Acceptance
Manuscripts are reviewed on the understanding that they have not been previously published nor are under consideration for publication elsewhere. Articles are published only if they are not promotional in any way and contain new information relevant to the industry.
On acceptance of a manuscript for publication, authors transfer copyright to Octo Media Ltd.. The manuscript may not then be reprinted without the consent of the publisher. In practice, permission to reprint is not often refused providing that credit is given to MDT in the reprinted version. If previously published figures, tables, or photographs are included in the manuscript, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce them from the original copyright holder. Manuscripts should be submitted by e-mail and as a separate faxed copy.
Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts should be approximately 1200 to 1500 words in length, excluding tables and illustrations. Each component, such as title, abstract, text and references, should begin on a separate page. Titles should be short and specific. Please include an abstract of approximately 50 words that outlines the aim, content and conclusions of the paper.
For manuscripts submitted by multiple authors, a single author should be designated to handle correspondence. The manuscript should include this individual's full address, telephone and fax numbers and e-mail address. Before submitting the completed work, authors are urged to review their manuscripts for clarity of expression, grammar and typographical accuracy. Acronyms and abbreviations used in manuscripts should be defined. Authors are responsible for all statements in their work.
All accepted manuscripts are subject to copyediting, and authors will have the opportunity to review the final draft. Rejected manuscripts will be returned to the author on request. The publication and its staff assume no responsibility for the safety of manuscripts, artwork, or photographs in transit.
Figures/Tables/Illustrations
Colour photographs line drawings and other figures must be referred to in the text by Arabic numerals (1, 2, etc.) in consecutive order. All illustrations should have the figure number and principal author's name written in pencil on the back. Figure captions should be typed on a separate page, each identified by its number. All symbols used in figures should be explained in the captions and magnifications should be provided as appropriate. Tables should be treated in the same way but referred to by Roman numerals (I, II, etc.) in consecutive order. Every table and each column within a table must have an appropriate heading.
References
Literature citations should be numbered consecutively in the text in order of appearance, indicated by Arabic numerals. Each reference must be numbered separately. Cited references should be grouped at the end of the manuscript and listed in order of their appearance in the text, not alphabetically. References to journals and books should include names of all authors (if a book, the editors), complete title of the article or book chapter, name of the journal (if a book, the name and location of the publisher), volume number, issue number (if appropriate), first and last page numbers of the article or portions of the book cited, and year of publication. To cite papers presented at meetings, provide the title of the presentation in quotes, the paper or abstract number, the formal title of the meeting, and the date and location of the meeting.
Manuscripts, ideas and proposals for technical articles should be submitted to the Editor.
