Stolakis Named Vice President, General Manager of Adhesives Research

George Stolakis
Adhesives Research Inc., a developer and manufacturer of pressure sensitive adhesives, tapes, speciality films, coatings and laminates, has promoted George Stolakis to the position of vice president and general manager of the company’s ARcare division. Stolakis will oversee global sales and research and development efforts for the division, which was formed in 2005 to produce highly customised tapes, adhesive coated products, films and laminates. During a 13-year career at the company, Stolakis was previously vice president of sales for ARcare.

Kunz and Currie Join Kuros

Biomaterials developer Kuros AG has appointed Dr Fritz Kunz as chairman and Dr Edward Currie as chief operating officer. Dr Kunz is currently a board member of two Swiss companies: biopharmaceutical company, Speedel, where he acts as chairman, and private medical technology company, SenTec. Dr Currie joins with 19 years of pharma experience at F.Hoffmann-La Roche. The appointments are part of an ongoing policy to add expertise and experience to the upper levels of Kuros’ management.

DSM Biomedical Makes Two Senior Appointments

DSM Biomedical has appointed Donato Di Biase as business director for drug delivery and regenerative medicine and Dr Julian Adams as its intellectual asset manager. Di Biase will be responsible for developing materials solutions for drug delivery and regenerative medicine. Adams will be in charge of strategy development and its implementation in intellectual property. The company provides a range of products including, hydrophilic coating technology, and materials and systems for implantable devices and drug delivery.

Romaco Employs New Vice President, Sales and Marketing

Gary Kedgley has taken up the role of vice president, sales and marketing at Romaco. Kedgley’s brief is to support recently appointed president Tom Luken in growing the company’s worldwide business. He will oversee production centres in Germany, Italy and Switzerland and all sales channels. With European headquarters in Karlsruhe, Germany, the company supplies engineered critical equipment and systems.

Thomas Herrmann Returns to Group Headquarters

Thomas Herrmann has taken on the position of chief executive officer, sales and finances for Herrmann Ultraschalltechnik GmbH & Co. KG. He was formerly general manager of Herrmann Ultrasonic Inc., but remains the company’s president and chief executive officer. The Group produces ultrasonic plastic welding technology through three business divisions: plastics, nonwovens and packaging.

Fitzpatrick Joins Invetech

Contract instrument manufacturer, Invetech, has appointed Ian Fitzpatrick as manager of manufacturing innovation in North America. Working with current and prospective customers, he will lead a team focused on delivering solutions to clients’ specific manufacturing needs. Fitzpatrick previously worked in the company’s Australian office as a project manager.

Klubnik Joins Wilcoxon

Wilcoxon Research, a provider of vibration sensors and sensor networks, has appointed Renard Klubnik as product manager and application engineer. He will be responsible for the production lifecycle of more than 3000 items, as well as designing new products for traditional market segments and new areas of business growth.

Ximedica Appoints Two to Development Team

Contract design and manufacturing company Ximedica has appointed Gil DePaula and Liam O’Shea to its senior development team. As principal software engineer, DePaula will manage software development projects and the company’s issue tracking systems for client 510k and FDA applications. O’Shea will be responsible for technical control throughout the product development process in his role as senior program manager.

Smith & Nephew Replaces Retiring Chief Executive

Smith & Nephew plc has announced that David Illingworth will succeed retiring chief executive officer, Sir Christopher O’Donnell. Illingworth is scheduled to move from his current position as chief operating officer on 1 July 2007. The company provides technology for the arthroscopy, advanced wound management and orthopaedics sectors.
