Letters: In The Beginning
Dear Editor:
I am writing in response to the editorial page in your June issue, “A Perfect Storm: Regulation, Reimbursement, and Intellectual Property.” It appears you were referring to medical device regulations in the article and not the medical device industry. I want to point out that the device industry itself was going strong in the 1960s and even before. The industry did very well during and after WWII. I visited medical device research labs while in college in 1956.
Even the ancient Egyptians had medical devices. Please clarify your terms for us old (but not yet mummified) folk.
Andrew Lowery
Dear Andrew:
You are absolutely correct. I did mean the beginning of medical device regulations. Thanks for your feedback.
