Deal Creates Largest Diagnostics FirmGeneral Electric Co. in April completed its acquisition of Amersham plc to form the world’s largest diagnostic healthcare company. GE is combining Amersham with its GE Medical Systems division to form GE Healthcare. The newly formed company has more than $14 billion in annual sales and more than 42,000 employees in more than 100 nations. The company will be headquartered in London, with a U.S. base in Waukesha, WI.
It will contain two main business units. GE Healthcare Technologies will offer medical imaging and information technologies, patient monitoring systems, and related services. GE Healthcare Bio-Sciences will provide medical diagnostics, drug discovery, and protein separation systems.
