Affinity-purified antibodies labeled with a series of advanced fluorescent dyes offer intense fluorescence and photostability, properties that allow the detection of low-abundance proteins with sensitivity and specificity. These DyLight fluorescent conjugates combine the sensitivity and reproducibility of the manufacturer’s antibodies and streptavidin with the intensity of the dyes to provide brilliant analysis in fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, Western blotting, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and other fluorescence applications. They provide a higher-performance alternative to conventional Cy dyes and fluorescein. The conjugates are offered with DyLight 488, 549, and 649 dyes, which have well-differentiated emission spectra to facilitate sensitive multicolor analysis.
A line of portable thermoadaptive modules for tube and plate cooling and heating have been designed to keep laboratory samples organized during these procedures. Each CoolSystem ensures that every tube or plate in the ThermalTray remains organized and kept at a precise temperature all day. The tray provides a stable, constant-temperature platform for the various tube and plate modules that can be used; modules never sink into the ice or water bath so samples cannot float, get lost, or become contaminated. The new BlueWave LED visible light, high-intensity spot curing system has no bulbs to change and maintains a constant intensity for thousands of hours. The system generates light using an array of surface-mount light emitting diodes instead of traditional metal halide or mercury bulbs. The visible light energy produced in a relatively narrow wavelength band is centered at 410 nm. The system emits a maximum visible light intensity output of over 2500 mW/cm2 from an 8-mm diameter lightguide, and allows users to adjust intensity output from 0 to 100%.

When dispensing high-viscosity fluids with standard blunt-end tips, extra pressure is necessary to overcome the resistance when entering the straight needle tube. A tapered dispensing needle designed specifically for high viscosity adhesives and silicone is well suited to effectively prevent and reduce the tertiary pressure phenomenon. The needles’ molded, plastic, tapered design diminishes the post-dispensing ooze that can be experienced with blunt-end tips, particularly when using high-viscosity fluid requiring higher pressure to dispense.

Multiple-Deletion Strain 42 (MDS42) is the only competent cells commercially available with a completely sequenced and analyzed genome. A series of deletions were performed to remove nonessential genetic elements, which has improved the transformation efficiencies and improved protein expression. With 15% of nonessential regions of the genome removed, the MDS42 competent cells contain no insertion sequences elements, phage and prophage elements, recombination regions, and endonuclease A, which may cause problems for modern lab applications.

The collector features a backlit graphical display, which allows on-location data analysis. An addition to an electric motor manufacturer’s highest-performance range of brushed dc motors features an ironless rotor so that the drive operates detent-free and exhibits minimal rotor inertia. The RE 65 motor delivers 250 W and is suitable for applications requiring high efficiency, high power density, and minimal operating noise. Depending on the type of winding, the motor’s cylindrical drive, which measures 65 mm in diameter by 130 mm in length, produces a nominal torque of 0.5 to 0.9 N•m at a nominal speed of 2400 to 3700 rpm. Offering a very high power density, the motor can attain efficiency levels as high as 90%, and its nominal voltages in the 18- to 70-V range make it well suited for battery-powered applications.

Enhanced polymerase chain reaction (PCR) beads provide a complete molecular diagnostic assay in an easy-to-use format with a simple work flow. Offering an alternative to lyophilization, ReaX MDx beads are well suited for oncology and infectious-disease assays and point-of-care tests because they do not require temperature-controlled logistics. Produced from organic and hydrogel polymers in a proprietary microfluidic device, the highly uniform beads display a variability below 2%. They encapsulate all of the reagents needed to perform the diagnostic assay, thus demanding minimal user input, time, or skill and yielding accurate and reproducible results regardless of who performs the assay.

Hybrid linear actuator
A size 11 double-stack noncaptive hybrid linear actuator is suited for compact linear motion applications requiring precise positioning and rapid motion, including medical equipment, handheld instruments, and valve controls. The 28000-series actuator has a leadscrew that runs axially through the center of the motor and is restrained from rotating; as the internal threaded rotor rotates, the leadscrew moves axially but does not rotate. This design is appropriate when long linear travel is a requirement and in applications in which the leadscrew is secured at both ends and the motor translates along the screw. Available in a variety of resolutions ranging from 0.000125 to 0.002 in. per step, the actuator delivers thrust up to 30 lb. Standard and custom configurations are available.

RNA preparation kit
A kit is offered that provides purification of total RNA from wide-ranging types of cells and tissues in less than 20 minutes. The protocol embodied in the PureLink RNA Mini Kit requires no phenol or chloroform extraction or ethanol precipitation, and allows for the purification of as much as 1000 µg of total RNA. The resulting RNA is suitable for use in all downstream applications, including quantitative polymerase chain reaction, RNA amplification for microarray analysis, and others.
High-barrier packaging film
Specialty films engineered to meet the requirements of transdermal-patch and oral-strip packaging are available. Several grades of PerfecPharm high-barrier film have been added to an existing line to fulfill the needs of these packaging applications. Designed for applications involving sensitive drugs or flavored strips, Grades 35677-E, 35682-G, and 35689-F are made with aluminum foil and a PET sealant that exhibits low interaction with excipients, drugs, and flavorants. Grade 35691 is a clear film offering high oxygen- and moisture-barrier properties. The greatest degree of protection from interactions is provided by the 35435-F grade that uses a Barex sealant.
