• Medica Corp. (Bedford, MA) and Abbott Laboratories (Abbott Park, IL) signed a worldwide, exclusive agreement to manufacture and distribute the Cell-Dyn EasyCell Digital Cell Morphology System, a new product that automates the location of white blood cells on a stained blood film and preclassifies them.
  
  
• Lee Memorial Health System has implemented the AdvanDx (Woburn, MA) molecular-based PNA FISH test that provides rapid identification of bloodstream pathogens in hours instead of days. The tests enable the 1600-bed hospital to quickly report critical information to physicians and pharmacists and help reduce death rates for patients afflicted with bloodstream infections.
  
  
• Enigma Diagnostics (Porton Down, UK) has signed an exclusive license agreement with the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Porton Down, UK) that covers access to technologies being developed for the rapid detection and identification of infectious organisms. This new agreement will be effective until 2026.
  
  
• Beckman Coulter Inc. (Fullerton, CA) announced the opening of the Immune Tolerance Network (ITN) Flow Cytometry Core Labora­tory at Beckman Coulter’s Miami facility. The new laboratory will aid in the design of the flow cytometry assay plan and logistics associated with the ITN’s clinical trials related to allergy, asthma and autoimmune diseases, and transplantation.
