In Brief
- Illumina (San Diego) and the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (Ottawa, ON, Canada) entered into a research collaboration to develop assays for newborn screening. Illumina has also entered into a collaborative agreement with the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN) to enable the codevelopment of assays for the study of complex diseases.
- Response Biomedical (Burnaby, BC, Canada) has entered into a worldwide, exclusive agreement with 3M Co. (Maplewood, MN) for the development and commercialization of diagnostic products targeting hospital- and community- acquired infectious diseases.
- Schering-Plough (Kenilworth, NJ) and OraSure Technologies (Bethlehem, PA) announced an agreement to collaborate on the development and promotion of a rapid point-of-care oral hepatitis C test.
- Mindray Medical (Shenzhen, China) signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a new R&D and manufacturing facility in the Nanjing Jiangning Development Zone. The facility is expected to be operational by 2009.
- China Medical Technologies (Beijing) completed the development of four liver fibrosis diagnostic reagents that use enhanced chemiluminescence immunoassay technology. These new reagents are scheduled to be introduced this year.
