201 Powder Flowability Basics

Virendra Puri, Penn State University In this session you will learn: • To learn the most widely used approach to flowability • To gain working knowledge of the basics of flowability of powders and powder mixtures • To have an overview of the testing methodology for measurement of flowability • To know of commonly used equipment to quantify flowability • To apply the basics and measurement methods through hands-on real-world derived example problems • To become aware of available literature and resources for continuous learning in this field

 

About the speaker:

University Distinguished Professor Puri, has been involved in instruction and research in the field of powder science, engineering, and technology for nearly three decades. He has served as the Acting Director of the NSF/IUCRC ( Industry University Cooperative Research Center) -- the Particulate Materials Center. Professor Puri has co-authored over 400 publications and co-inventor and holder of patents for four test devices in the area of powder flow, deposition and compaction. In addition, he has a Copyright for multi-purpose computational software dealing with powder processing applications. Professor Puri has been invited to serve on Editorial Boards, International Advisory Boards, and Chairpersons of several bulk solids-related publications and professional activities. He is Editor-in-Chief of Particulate Science and Technology, An International Journal. Professor Puri regularly offers seminars, courses, and workshops in powder mechanics to industry and academia. Professor Puri has received several teaching and research awards.
