2008 PTXi Conference

Canon Communications is taking substantial steps in an effort to produce environmentally-conscious conferences.
PTXi 2008 Conference greening efforts included:

E-Marketing
Canon is reaching its market via email broadcasts and telephone communications.

Presentation Materials
Conference materials will be accessed through the internet. By providing electronic materials, conference attendees will have the option to download and/or print only the information that is relevant to them thereby reducing waste.

Food and Beverage
Canon is working with the center’s catering service to provide an environmentally conscious menu. Whenever possible, locally grown products and organic foods will be served. A vegetarian menu option will be available upon request. Water pitchers and glasses will replace plastic water bottles. Charities will receive any reusable food that is leftover from the conference lunch.

Fair Trade Coffee
Serving Fair Trade coffee at the conference supports fair payment to growers for their product and encourages better environmental practices worldwide.

Reusable Supplies
As much as possible, disposable supplies will be replaced by reusable products and/or biodegradable items. Glass cups, ceramic coffee mugs and plates, silverware, and linen cloth will be used.

Floral Decor
Plants used to decorate the conference are potted and reused at different events.

Recycling
Clearly marked recycling bin stations will be in place throughout the conference area. Attendees will be encouraged to return their badgeholders at the end of the conference for use at a future Canon conference.
