Nanon A/S

Booth 959

Bio-medical coating on silicone devices

Nanon’s SoftPlasma Polymerization™ technology makes it possible to apply a wide range of biocompatible coatings directly on silicone rubber. The technology is a combination of low energy plasma, to activate the substrate, and polymerization, to build a new functional coating on the silicone. The result is a permanent coating of 10-100 nanometers chemically bonded to the silicone. Nanon is developing 3 coating types: Infection repellent (eg. PVP), Anti-thrombogenic (Heparin free) and Anti-adhesion. Nanon’s bio-medical coatings open up a broad range of possibilities for catheters, implants, contact lenses, ports, valves, pre-filled syringes and many others.

Nanon A/S

Booth 959

Drug eluting silicone devices

Nanon is developing processes that can impregnate silicone with drugs for controlled release and drug eluting applications. Nanon’s SiliCO2ne ImpregnationTM technology creates “interpenetrating polymer networks”, in which microscopic channels of a water-bearing polymer are produced inside the silicone, yielding a silicone hydrogel. These microscopic channels allow uptake and release of water-soluble compounds, such as drugs. Drug-eluting properties were demonstrated by loading samples with silver complex and demonstrating anti-microbial effect in vitro against the common hospital infectious agents. Nanon’s drug eluting silicone opens up a broad range of possibilities for catheters, valves, implants and many others.
