WHAT'S NEW
A noninvasive blood pressure simulator for the fast and accurate testing of NIBP monitors has been developed by Rigel Medical (Peterlee, Co. Durham, UK). It will be introduced at the Medica tradeshow in Dusseldorf, Germany, which runs from 19 to 22 November.
The lightweight, battery-powered Rigel BP-Sim uses proprietary technology to simulate a wide range of blood pressures to verify the safety of NIBP monitors. Custom settings include paediatric and adult NIBP pressures, pulse volume adjustments, heart rate, and manufacturer-specific O curves.
It is the first handheld simulator to combine full performance features with a large capacity internal memory for data capture, storage, and subsequent downloading of test results, according to the company.
The device is Bluetooth enabled, and it also features a built-in pump to generate user-specific pressure settings for system leak tests and overpressure tests. An integrated digital manometer enables accurate static pressure measurements to be taken using a range of selectable pressure units.
The company will be showcasing the simulator at stand B51 in Hall 11.
