Miniature polarized nano-connectors for medical, aerospace, and other advanced applications where size and weight are critical are now available from Omnetics Connector Corp. (Minneapolis, MN, USA). The high-reliability connectors feature insulators that are designed to hold one row of pins and one row of sockets, thus polarizing the connector while minimizing the amount of space normally required to accommodate guide pins. The company claims that these are among the smallest polarized high-reliability connectors available.
The connectors maintain signal integrity even when they are subjected to high levels of shock and vibration, and they withstand temperatures between -55 and 155 degrees C. Available in 4, 6, 8 10, and 12 position sizes, the products are on a 0.635-mm-pitch spacing and feature gold-plated contacts.
