Disposable connectors
A supplier of plastic components offers a patent-pending connector line for transporting liquids or gases that is designed to be secure, reliable and intuitive to use. The SBL Series connector line can reduce the likelihood of human error and provide an added level of security for healthcare fluid applications, according to the manufacturer. Available in 3.2- and 4.8-mm versions, the fittings can be sterilised using either ethylene oxide or gamma radiation.
Contract manufacturing
A company certified to ISO 13485:2003 for the manufacture of single-use medical devices offers contract product development, engineering and manufacturing services. Working with clients, the firm can develop custom product-development strategies and provides pilot and batch scale manufacturing. Shown in the image above right is a single-use disposable biosensor cartridge from the firm that integrates novel electrochemical biosensors and microfluidics. Tuohy Borst adapters
A line of miniature Tuohy Borst adapters is composed of a PVC body with a cap made of ABS and nylon. The adapter's silicone gasket is chemically resistant, prevents backflow of fluids and secures the position of a guidewire or instrument when it is closed. This group of adapters is available with gasket sizes ranging from 4 to 6 on the French scale. The firm also offers a variety of stock and custom disposable components including luers, stopcocks, caps, ports, filters and tubing. IV filters
A family of IV filters is suited for a variety of medical infusion applications. The most-recent addition to the product family, the Speedflow Baby line of IV filters is suited for neonate IV, chemotherapy and pain-management applications. The filters feature two vents made from a 0.25-cm² hydrophobic PTFE membrane, which allow fast air elimination in any position. The proprietary Hi-Flo PES membranes used in the filters also support fast fluid flow rates. RFID tag
Suited for single-use applications, a read/write RFID tag can be sterilised with gamma radiation, withstanding radiation doses of up to 45 kGy. The GammaTag enables components to be assembled into a single-use system and then be sterilised as a unit without data loss. By aiming a reader at the tag, users can read or update data regarding the current status of components. The firm also offers sanitary tubing, fittings and moulded components for single-use and reusable applications.Single-use connectors
A manufacturer offers a range of single-use connectors that are designed to be easy to use. Featuring a simple latching mechanism, the company’s 1P disposable connector line has stamped contacts that are first soldered then snapped into the insulator. The removable snap-on back shell also allows for quick correction of assembly errors. The company, which has more than 60 years of experience manufacturing connectors, also offers custom product-development services.Swabbable valves
A manufacturer offers a family of swabbable valves to address a range of applications. The valve stems and bodies mate securely with standard luer syringes and luer connectors. All materials are gamma resistant, DEHP-free and latex-free, and compliant to USP Class VI requirements. Bodies for the valve line are available in polycarbonate or copolyester. The firm also offers a needlefree product line that includes tube end, bag access and stopcock valves. Contract manufacturing
