BioBusiness Conference Scheduled

Seminar Analyzes Revisions to the Medical Device Directives

Scheduled for 12–13 February, at the Rembrandt Hotel in London, a seminar will examine recent changes to the medical device directives and their influence on the medical device industry. Reclassification, clinical data, performance of notified bodies, vigilance, and risk management are among the topics that will be discussed. The conference will give visitors an opportunity to learn about the implications of the regulatory changes and how they will affect working practices. There will also be an introduction to the European Commission’s consultation relating to the recasting of the medical device directives.

Course Examines US Regulation of Medical Technology

Scheduled for 24–26 February, a course developed by Cranfield University in collaboration with regulatory affairs industry association TOPRA will examine how US regulatory procedures are applied to medical technologies. Offered by Cranfield University in the United Kingdom, the course is designed to enable students to leave with the capability to advise their organizations about entering the US medical technologies market. The course will focus on such areas as the structure and mission of US FDA, premarket notification, and quality system regulation. A master of science programme in medical technology regulatory affairs is also offered by the university.

Conference Considers Developments in Synthetic Fibres for Medical Applications

A conference on synthetic fibres that will be held on 2–3 April at the Hotel Bloom in Brussels will include a session on their medical uses. Organized by Industrial Fabrics Association International, the conference is expected to attract hundreds of industry executives, who will discuss technical textile innovations coming in the next five to 10 years. The conference will focus on a variety of topics, one of which will be man-made fibres in medical applications.

Seminar Provides Overview of EU Reimbursement for Medical Devices

A seminar presented by nationally based experts covers reimbursement systems in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy. The seminar, which will be held 4–5 March at the Rembrandt Hotel in London, will consider the requirements of each country and review the reimbursement and funding systems for medical technologies and procedures, considering both the public and private sectors. The event also will deliver practical advice on achieving or improving reimbursement for medical technologies and procedures in each country.

MEDTEC UK Returns to Birmingham’s NEC in March
