AWR and Austriamicrosystems Introduce Process Design Kit

AWR and Austriamicrosystems AG have introduced an Open Access–based process design kit (PDK) for S35 0.35-µm silicon-germanium BiCMOS process technology. It is optimized for circuits operating up to 10 GHz. The PDK includes Monte Carlo simulation models and a set of Open Access PyCells, developed using Ciranova’s PyCell studio. Available devices include an array of high-speed and high-voltage bipolar transistors, NMOS and PMOS transistors, capacitors, resistors, and spiral inductors along with electrostatic discharge and radio-frequency (RF) pad structures. The PDK also includes the electromagnetic (EM) stack-up information required to perform EM analysis and parasitic extraction from within the Analog Office design environment using AWR’s EM socket interface.

“This PDK gives our mutual customers the benefit of using our high-performance S35 SiGe BiCMOS process with the innovative software solution from AWR,” says Hannes Koreimann, director, marketing business unit full-service foundry at Austriamicrosystems. “Our 0.35-µm SiGe-BiCMOS technology is mainly used for RF applications in the areas of wireless and high-speed data communication products,” explains Andreas Wild, product marketing manager, southern Europe for Austriamicrosystems. “We have customers who have developed ICs for ultrasound detector front-end ICs and other similar medical applications.”

“There have been numerous requests to add Austriamicrosystems’ advanced S35 process to our PDK offering,” says Graeme Ritchie, product manager, Analog Office at AWR. “I’m very pleased now to be able to offer this SiGe PDK to AWR’s Analog Office users and to leverage its cross-tool accessibility via its Open Access roots.”
