SPECIAL REPORT

Stama Cited Among Germany’s “Hot 100”

Yvonne Klöpping

Germany’s most-innovative companies were honoured this summer in Düsseldorf, where they were awarded the Top 100 seal of quality. Stama Maschinenfabrik GmbH (Schlierbach, Germany; www.stama.de) was among the select group of 100 small- and medium-sized German companies, ranking in the upper echelon at number 16.

A maker of turnkey and system machining solutions, Stama was applauded as a champion of innovation in a number of categories. Recognized for fostering innovation within the company as well as for using innovative marketing techniques, Stama stood out at this year’s competition for its strategic approach to innovation processes.

Following the principle that the fastest wins, the company puts an emphasis on observing and analyzing market and technology developments to rapidly identify trends. The firm maintains close relationships with select companies by implementing an information-exchange approach. The firm’s innovation process is also characterized by short decision routes and fast reaction times. One example is the MC 726/MT-2C milling-turning centre, for which it has received an EMO Innovation Award. The machine’s so-called Tandem concept features turnkey milling-turning technology combining the productivity of an automatic bar-turning machine with the flexibility and versatility of a milling-turning centre.

Schreiner Group GmbH (Oberschleissheim, Germany), a company that develops labeling and self-adhesive functional devices, was named innovator of the year at the ceremony in July.
