Site Devoted to Medical Uses of PEEK Launched
An educational Web site on the medical applications of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) polymers has been launched at www.medicalpeek.org. Designed as an online reference for research on implantable PEEK, the site’s target audience includes materials- and bioengineers, medical device designers, surgeons, academics, scientists, and other medical and medical device industry professionals. The site was founded by Steven M. Kurtz, a research professor and director of the Implant Research Center at the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science, and Health Systems at Drexel University (Philadelphia, PA, USA). Kurtz reports that the new Web site is drawing attention from the biomedical, materials, academic, and related research and development communities. With interest in implantable PEEK continuing to grow across diverse medical applications, he expects the number of visitors to the site to reflect that trend.
